How to Crack the SCJP

Hello everybody,

First of all thanks to you all for the good Wishes & Congratulations that you have sent to me for cracking SCJP. Because I got a lot of persons asking me Tips & Tricks on how to prepare for SCJP, I decided to write this article. Here are some of the FAQ that would be proved boon for you to crack SCJP in less time:

1. How long does it take to prepare?
There is no definite time frame. But about 3-4 dedicated hours a day, for about two months is enough. Then, again, it is dependent on your level. To find that out, I'd suggest that you should take simulator-based test that is mentioned below. If you could score about 60% on start, and about 80% when near to appear for the SCJP, then I would say that you can score at least 90% at the final occasion. If you scored more, great...! But if less... well, spruce up depending on how much less.

2. General Tips & Tricks:
A. Study the complete book “JAVA - Addison Wesley - Programmer's Guide to Java Certification” written by Khalid A. Mughal & Rolf W. Rasmussen. While studying the book, keep a pencil with you. Underline the sentences & important points that you think could be useful. At the end of each chapter, solve the MCQ. Be honest while doing so.
B. Khalid Mughal – Revision. This time read only the above underlined points. This time you can also prepare a soft copy of these important points. This might be useful as last minute guide. Again at the end of each chapter, solve the MCQ. Be honest while doing so.
C. Attempt one test daily from the Whizlabs SCJP Exam Simulator. You can download this simulator from Internet.
D. While attempting steps 3 & 4, study the notes prepared in step 2 on daily basis.
E. Now it’s time to switch to some tough version of practice test. Try Enthuware JQPlus. First try easy & then tough version of test.
